I’ve just updated this lifetime warranty article. It includes more than two dozen brands that provide a warranty for life or lifetime protection on their products, or something similar. This is a great guide when buying gifts for the holidays or all year round.

Why? Because these are products that last. And if they don’t, most of the companies have guaranteed they will fix or replace what’s broken. So that’s why I’m focusing on lifetime warranty products.

Why I buy products with a lifetime warranty

As a smart consumer, buying products with a lifetime warranty or a lifetime guarantee is very important to me. Before you buy anything, I believe it’s important to keep in mind the notion of investing in products with a policy where the company stands behind its products.

For starters, it’s part of my whole philosophy in getting the biggest bang for your buck or the most value for your money–not always the cheapest price. Doing this makes me, I believe, a sophisticated consumer and one that can purchase with confidence.

Take my allegiance to companies that offer a lifetime warranty on their products. Many of these companies have products with a price tag that might give a cheapskate pause. But I don’t just see the upfront price as being important. In other words I see long-term spending as being the real key.

A customer for life

So if a company offers a lifetime warranty on an item, and I have to spend only once on something which the company might replace for free in the future, if necessary, then over the long run I’ve saved money.

I stand by my belief that if a company is going to offer a lifetime warranty and honor that lifetime guarantee, then I’m going to use that warranty to my bottom line’s advantage. Plus, that lifetime warranty guarantees I’ll be a loyal customer forever.

Jansport Lifetime Warranty Reviewed

The Jansports backpack warranty and guarantee overall is simple and straightforward:

JanSport engineers quality, durable, and reliable products. So, if your pack ever breaks down, simply return it to our warranty center. We’ll fix it or if we can’t we’ll replace it or refund it. We stand by our packs for a lifetime and since we’ve been making packs since 1967, that’s a guarantee you can stand by.

The company means it. When my daughter Annie’s Jansport backpack could no longer zip up, I simply went to the Jansport website, downloaded the form to fill out and send back with the pack, and sent it in.

Jansport Warranty Cons

I had to pay for my own shipping to the Jansport warranty center in California. Even though Jansport is sold in national retailers, your only option is to mail it back to Jansport. This page explains the Jansport limited warranty policy.

On the plus side it didn’t take Jansport very long to acknowledge receipt of Annie’s broken backpack. I got an email a week later letting me know it had arrived.

I never heard from Jansport again. Then, almost a month to the day, Annie’s brand new backpack arrived on our doorstep.

What is a limited lifetime warranty

You’ll notice that some of the companies listed below call theirs a limited lifetime warranty. The limited part of that warranty or guarantee could mean two things.

First, it could mean the amount of time that you can take advantage of the warranty is limited. Or, second, the lifetime guarantee may be limited to only parts or portions of the products.

For example, with the Away Suitcases, it seems to be that the lifetime guarantee is limited to something that breaks on the suitcase. This could be a wheel or a zipper.

Likewise with Canada Goose jackets, the lifetime warranty is limited in that it does not include normal wear and tear.

In conclusion, when in doubt contact customer service. This way you can find out if any brands, products or companies limit their lifetime warranty, and exactly what that means for you.

Other Companies with a Lifetime Warranty

Here are other companies that offer a lifetime guarantee or warranty. Above all, this is good information to have when thinking about spending your hard-earned cash. This is applicable for back-to-school shopping, holiday gifts or home furnishing items for your house, condo or apartment.

Arc’teryx

Canadian company Arc’teryx specializes in technical high-performance apparel, outerwear and equipment. So if you’re looking, for example, for information about the Arcteryx jacket warranty, you should be good to go.

Just keep in mind that the company reserves the right to offer a repair versus a replacement on any of its products. You can buy Arc’teryx outdoor gear on REI.com.

All-Clad

This upscale cookware brand stands behind its product from the date of purchase, and promises to repair or replace any item found defective in material, construction, or workmanship under normal use and following care instructions. All-Clad even warrants its non-stick coating on pans with a lifetime guarantee. All-Clad also appears in this article about cookware with a guarantee.

Ankarsrum

Ankarsrum mixers are designed to handle heavy-duty mixing tasks but, when needed, can be used for a wide range of other applications including whipping cream and mixing batter. In fact, ask anyone who spends time cooking and baking, and they’ll tell you that Ankarsrum makes high-quality kitchen mixers that are known for their durability, versatility and unique design.

Away Suitcases

You’ve probably heard the ads for Away Suitcases on your favorite cable network or satellite radio station. They talk about the Away Suitcases’ modern design, roomy interior but compact exterior, spinner wheels and a portable charger built right into the suitcase.

What you may not realize is that Away Suitcases have a lifetime warranty. The company actually refers to the warranty as a limited lifetime warranty on all suitcases, but it’s generous enough to be included in this article.

Here’s what the company says about how it stands behind its suitcases:

“[T]hat means we’ll always fix or replace a suitcase if it breaks.”

Therefore, I’d say that if you’re in need of a new suitcase, an Away Suitcase might be a great option to check out.

However, be forewarned: if you buy an Away suitcase in a limited color or that’s part of a limited collection, the warranty may not apply, as one of my readers found out.

Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s happen to be owned by the same company. Not surprisingly both stores offers a generous return policy, which is pretty much a warranty or guarantee:

“If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your order, simply contact customer service for instructions on how to return your order for a full refund. If and when you are ready to place another order, we will be happy to serve you again.”

Bombas

Bombas offers its own unique take on the product guarantee. Here is what the Bombas website says:

Our #1 priority here at Bombas is your happiness. Which means we stand by our product 100%, no matter what, no questions asked, no holds barred, no ifs, no ands, no buts. Here are tips to avoid Bombas dupes.

Canada Goose

I recently treated myself to a new winter jacket. I had to since the L.L. Bean lifetime warranty was no more. Therefore, I wanted to buy my jacket from a company that has a more robust guarantee.

I found that in Canada Goose. This just might be the best winter jacket I’ve ever owned. You can buy Canada Goose jackets at Nordstrom.

Here is how Canada Goose describes its warranty:

The Canada Goose products are fully warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product. If this product fails due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair it free of charge, or replace at our discretion. If the exact style is not available for replacement, a product of equal value and similar style will be provided.

Not surprisingly the warranty is void for normal wear and tear. That makes sense. With Canada Goose standing behind its jackets, this may be the last winter jacket you’ll ever have to buy.

Carhartt Warranty

Carhartt doesn’t refer to its warranty as a Carhartt warranty, Carhartt guarantee or a Carhartt lifetime warranty. Instead, it refers to it as its commitment to its customers. From the Carhartt customer service website:

For over 125 years, we’ve built rugged products to serve and protect hardworking people. We stand behind the premium quality, craftsmanship, durability and performance of all our hardworking garments and accessories — and are committed to the satisfaction of our customers. Should one of our products fail to meet your expectations, please contact our dedicated Customer Service team and we’ll do everything we can to come to the solution.

Above all, if you’re in doubt, contact Carhartt customer service about the Carhartt warranty USA and ask. As posted above, also contact them if you need a Carhartt repair.

In short, I’m guessing it’s one of the reasons that those who work in construction, agriculture or just spend a lot of time outdoors swear by Carhartt and are lifelong customers.

Likewise, with a Carhartt boot warranty policy, a Carhartt zipper repair service or Carhartt zipper warranty or Carhartt zipper replacement, a Carhartt pants warranty and a Carhartt jacket warranty or Carhartt coat or vest warranty, who wouldn’t want to give this brand their business.

Columbia Sportswear

Here is how the Columbia lifetime guarantee works. There is a limited lifetime warranty on Columbia Sportswear products, but its a warranty nonetheless. I recently purchased a Columbia Sportswear down vest and I love it. They might just become my new favorite outerwear company.

Costco

When it comes to lifetime guarantees, Costco wholesale club takes an interesting approach. That is, Costco doesn’t offer an across-the-board, automatic guarantee for its Kirkland and other products.

However, if you’re ever unsatisfied with your purchase, Costco will likely take the product back. So the guarantee is more like a generous return policy.

Additionally, this guarantee/return policy extends to your Costco membership. That is, if you are unsatisfied with your Costco membership, Costco will cancel it and refund your money.

I love my Costco membership. I can’t imagine anyone being unsatisfied with theirs. But if they are, Costco will do what it can to make things right.

Costco Membership Deal via Groupon

The best deal on a Costco Membership right now is through Groupon. When you sign up, you’ll get your one-year membership plus a $40 Costco Digital Shop Card for free.

In case you didn’t know, the Costco Shop Card is the store’s gift card. You can use it in store or online.

Crocs Clogs

When it comes to a warranty on Crocs clogs and shoes, unfortunately, it isn’t for a lifetime. Instead, the Crocs warranty is for 90 days.

Darn Tough Socks

When it comes to the Darn Tough Socks warranty, here’s what Darn Tough Socks says: “Unconditionally guaranteed for life.” So if you’re looking for socks with a lifetime guarantee, Darn Tough Socks definitely fits the bill.

Dickies

My grandfather was an apple farmer. My uncle is a dairy farmer. Whenever I think about them getting dressed for a day in the fields or in the barn, I think about them putting on their Dickies. I know that they wore this brand of clothing because it was long-lasting and reliable. Dickies is also a brand that parents of school uniforms rely on.

Dickies warranty

I recently just discovered that Dickies belongs in this list of companies that stand behind their products, thanks to the Dickies warranty or Dickies lifetime guarantee.

After one year, we will also consider returns for items that are defective or don’t perform as designed. No Bull means if something goes wrong, we will always treat you right.”

Feetures Socks

Here is another brand of socks with a lifetime warranty. That is, Feetures performance socks are designed to provide durability and style for all day comfort in all activities.

Filson

Filson describes itself as the ultimate company for the outdoors person:

“Filson is the leading outfitter and manufacturer of unfailing goods for outdoor enthusiasts. Built upon a reputation for reliability, we’re a favorite among anglers and hunters, engineers and explorers, mariners and miners, and anyone who refuses to stay indoors.”

The company guarantees the products it makes for the lifetime of that item. You can buy Filson outerwear, clothing, and travel, hiking and camping gear at Public Lands.

Fiskars

If you’re a crafty person, then you’re probably familiar with Fiskars scissors. They are a higher-end, reliable brand of scissors.

Every sewing person I’ve ever met owned Fiskars. They tell me these are the best sewing scissors.

Well, Fiskars has a lifetime warranty. It says that the product will be free of defects “in materials and workmanship” for as long as you own the product.

Hydro Flask

We’re big fans of the wide-mouth Hydro Flask, stainless-steel water bottles. The Hydro Flask “Let’s Go” Promise warranty has three “levels,” if you will:

• Lifetime Warranty
• 5 Year Warranty
• Satisfaction Guaranteed.

L.L. Bean: Important update on its lifetime warranty policy

L.L. Bean is no longer offering a lifetime guarantee but rather a limited warranty. See below for how the company describes the update:

Customers will have one year after purchasing an item to return it, accompanied by proof of purchase. After one year, we will work with our customers to reach a fair solution if a product is defective in any way. [Note: I’ve added the bold.]

I totally understand why L.L. Bean had to make this change. From what I’d heard, people were shopping at yard or thrift stores, and then bringing those “purchases” back to the store for brand-new products.

Why is it that it’s always the few who ruin things for the many? In short, this is why we can’t have nice things!

Manduka Yoga Mats

I’ve been practicing yoga for as long as I can remember. However, it wasn’t until my friend Holly–and fellow yoga enthusiast–told me about Manduka that I learned you could get a yoga mat with a lifetime warranty.

Here is how Manduka describes its lifetime guarantee:

Manduka guarantees the Black Mat PRO®, Manduka PRO® and PROlite® yoga mats to be free of manufacturer defects and to last a lifetime, if used and cared for properly. Since the The PRO Squared is a multi-purpose mat, it is not included under the Lifetime Guarantee. Marmot

Here’s what Marmot has to say about its lifetime guarantee:

“We warrant every product we make to be free of manufacturer defects.”

So if you’re looking for a Marmot rain jacket warranty or a Marmot sleeping bag warranty, the company has you covered.

Nordstrom

I just added Nordstrom to this article on brands with lifetime guarantees. You likely won’t see Nordstrom promoting this kind of warranty. However, here’s why the store is on my list: they offer excellent customer service. Nordstrom will work hard to ensure that you’re satisfied with your experience in the store or online. It’s one of the reasons that I’ve been a devout Nordstrom customer for years.

Here is how Nordstrom explains its customer service commitment on Nordstrom.com:

“We handle returns on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate objective of making our customers happy. We stand behind our goods and services and want customers to be satisfied with them. We’ll always do our best to take care of customers—our philosophy is to deal with them fairly and reasonably. We have long believed that when we treat our customers fairly, they in turn are fair with us. We do apply returns to the tender it was purchased with. If we choose to provide a refund and no record of sale is available, we will ask for personal identification and a return will be provided at the current price on a Nordstrom Gift Card.”

The North Face

When my daughters were teens, their must-haves jackets were from The North Face. Thankfully, those North Face jackets came with a lifetime guarantee:

“The North Face products are fully warranted to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product. If a product ever fails due to a manufacturing defect, even after extended use, we will repair the product, without charge, or replace it, at our discretion.”

Orvis

Orvis calls its warranty the “Great Catch Guarantee.” It pretty much stands behind everything it sells.

Osprey

Here is the wording of the Osprey lifetime warranty aka the All Might Guarantee:

“Osprey will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge–whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday.”

Otterbox

If you’re looking for a lifetime warranty on phone covers, then you’ll want to get yourself a case like an Otterbox, if not an actual Otterbox. Whenever you get a new smartphone, I hope you’re also getting an Otterbox case.

I have the Otterbox Defender Series and it has saved my iPhone from destruction many times over. About six months after I purchased my Otterbox, it broke—and Otterbox replaced it for free. That’s thanks to the Otterbox warranty. This article explains how to Otterbox warranty works.

Patagonia

Like The North Face, Patagonia is a company that’s well known for providing high quality outdoor products. And like The North Face, Patagonia offers a warranty.

Here is how the company describes the Patagonia lifetime warranty:

If you are not satisfied with one of our products at the time you receive it, or if one of our products does not perform to your satisfaction, return it to the store you bought it from or to Patagonia for a repair, replacement or refund. Damage due to wear and tear will be repaired at a reasonable charge.

When you visit the Patagonia website, you’ll see something on the top menu called Worn Wear. It’s where Patagonia sells used merchandise. I wonder if that’s where the stuff that gets turned in via the warranty ends up.

Target

Target’s Cat & Jack brand for children has a one-year limited lifetime warranty. Hold onto your receipt as you’ll need it should you want to “activate” the guarantee.

Terry Bicycles

I discovered the Terry Bicycles brand of cycling clothing when I got my Peloton. The Terry padded shorts are the ones that have saved my backside from the Peloton seat. I can’t imagine cycling without them.

Terry stands behind its products with a guarantee. Here it is:

“We’re proud of the products we sell and we back them unconditionally. If you’re not completely satisfied with your Terry purchase, simply return it for an exchange, credit or refund.”

Tervis Tumblers

Tervis Tumblers, which come in clear as well as stainless steel, explains exactly how its lifetime guarantee works. Basically, if you abuse your drinking vessel or don’t follow care instructions, that doesn’t count for the warranty. Neither does being clumsy, such as how I dropped my NYU (my alma mater) tumbler on a ceramic floor and it cracked. However, if the seal fails, the plastic fogs or other manufacturing failures occur, the company will likely replace your cup. Last I checked this warranty was for five years only after purchase.

Vortex Optics

Vortex Optics specializes in binoculars and other optics products. Here is how Vortex explains its warranty:

“VIP stands for a Very Important Promise to you, our customer. We will repair or replace your Vortex® product in the event it becomes damaged or defective—at no charge to you. If we cannot repair your product, we will replace it with a product in perfect working order of equal or better physical condition.”

Concluding thoughts on a lifetime warranty

I love products that last forever. However, if they’re not going to last forever, then I’ll take lifetime protection. A company that offers this kind of lifetime warranty or guarantee will have me as a customer forever.
