After Thanksgiving Clearance Sales
Admittedly, it is hard to find and write about after Thanksgiving clearance sales. Why? Because if you search for things that are on sale the day after Thanksgiving, you’ll bump smack into Black Friday sales.
Of course, we all love shopping for those Black Friday deals. However, what if you legit want to save money on Thanksgiving stuff after the holiday is over? Is it possible to even find items on clearance then? I’m happy to report that it is.

I’ll admit, I had to do some digging to find places that might have Thanksgiving supplies on sale. Because you know that in the hours between our turkey-centric holiday and Black Friday, retail workers likely have moved everything for Thanksgiving and pushed the Christmas and Chanukah stuff into the forefront.
However, like my articles on shopping after Halloween sales, I’ve discovered that many of the same stores are where you’re going to find the best deals. However there is a big difference on the day after Thanksgiving.
Shop after Thanksgiving sales online
Places like Target and Walmart may be crazy in person on the day after Thanksgiving aka Black Friday. That’s why I would suggest you do your after Thanksgiving shopping online from the comfort of home.
In addition to big box stores like Target and Walmart, you can check out online sales at crafting stores like JoAnn and Michael’s. I’ll bet they’ll have Thanksgiving decorating inventory marked down.
Cash back shopping with Rakuten on Black Friday for gifts
With gift shopping in full swing, now was a good time to revisit the topic of cash back shopping with Rakuten. Call it cash back hacks, if you will. The bottom line is how to earn money while you shop.
So I’ll explain how Rakuten works and how it can work for you–to put extra money back in your bank account. But first: Rakuten Black Friday offers, which will probably flow over into Cyber Monday, too.
So, what are some of the stores offering the highest percentage of cash back on Rakuten this holiday season?
- Macy’s
- Kohl’s
- Walmart
- Nike
- Adidas

So, if you haven’t yet signed up for Rakuten, do it today before you start doing your gift shopping. This is my referral link to Rakuten.
Thanksgiving decor on clearance
Like the clearance shelves I spied at Rite Aid, I’ve noticed that if you search for “fall harvest” or “harvest decor,” then you’re likely to stumble upon Thanksgiving clearance items. Because when you think about it, after the harvest season for decorating, you’re going straight into the winter theme, such as snowflakes, snowmen and the like.
So look for similar kinds of Thanksgiving decorations, plates, serving platters and the like at your favorite stores.
Target Thanksgiving decor clearance
One of the stores where I found the widest range of products on clearance after Thanksgiving is Target. In fact, this Target clearance page is devoted entirely to Thanksgiving decor.
Supermarket aisles
As I wrote about in my article about Thanksgiving life hacks, you’ll often find Thanksgiving cooking supplies on sale before Thanksgiving. Well, guess what? You can find those same sales after the holiday, too.
For example, you can expect to see the following cooking staples marked down by Black Friday:
- canned pumpkin
- cranberry sauce (here are ideas on how to use leftover cranberry sauce)
- stuffing mix
- gravy
- boxed mashed potatoes
You may find real pumpkins, too. And this will likely be your last chance to buy them fresh before next year. Here are tips to compost your pumpkins.
Food for Thanksgiving next year
Don’t forget to look in the frozen section of the supermarket for savings on leftover frozen turkeys, hams and meat or pork roasts. Finally, those baking staples that may have been on sale before Thanksgiving may also be on sale now, too. This includes flour, sugar and spices that are often used in Thanksgiving recipes.
While you’re in the baking aisle, look for fall, harvest or Thanksgiving-theme baking accessories like cupcake or muffin liners or baking cups with leaves on them. You may also find cupcake toppers and perhaps orange or brown icing for piping that you won’t find at any other time of the year.
If you buy in bulk for next year’s Thanksgiving celebration during these clearance sales, you’ll save money in the long run.
